A Badgers Den Records round up of 2024
What a year of music 2024 has been! With fabulous new music, reissues, live events and so much more.
Over the year we've been proud to bring some interesting and original music the Te Tai Tokerau starting off with Good Habits & Mishra over from the UK and playing a beautiful show on the water front at the Woodshed. We took them around a few local highlights and walks to settle them into NZ and then the crowd who came along were treated to an evening of exceptional and exuberant folk fun!
In May we helped bring We Mavericks north where they were supported by hometown heroes Velvet Arrow
In October we were stoked to get Lower Bar Collective up to play in the old concrete tunnels int he Quarry Gardens as part of the Whangārei Fringe Festival - an afternoon of improvisational droning guitar noise and music, recontextualizing an old industrial space into a personal creative highlight of the year.
There has been some amazing music released this year; from Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Wild God which seems like a late career highlight his comrades The Dirty Three with their new album Love Changes Everything.
Local albums such as Christoph El Truento, Fazerdaze, DARTZ and Fat Freddy's Drop have been amazing and on high rotation in the Badgers Den.
There has been so many great releases and music this year.
Big thank you to: Bonnie & Pete from Good Habits, Mishra, Laurel & the Whangārei Fringe Festival We Mavericks, Velvet Arrow, The Woodshed, OneOneSix, Beagle Radio, Roost Bar, Local Talent Taverna for being the best place to eat in NZ as well as the most fun spot to DJ on a sunny afternoon, McLeods Brewery and everyone who has come to a gig, tuned into a radio show, brought a record and supported Badger's Den Records so we can keep doing what we love and bringing you the freshest music in Te Tai Tokerau
